THE
TRANSFORMATION OF THE EDGE
Leap
Publications, which has published The EDGE newspaper continuously for the past 12
years in the Upper Midwest, has embarked upon its most sweeping change since its
inception: Edge Life. Not since the creation of Edge Life Expo in 2001 has the Ramsey,
Minn.-based business been such front-page news. With the redesign of The EDGE, both
in terms of philosophy and aesthetics, it is clear that these times-are-a-changin'
-- and you are a part of that change.

AN
INTERVIEW WITH PAUL H. RAY, Ph.D. ON CULTURAL CREATIVES
by
Tim Miejan
The
Cultural Creative model made so much sense to us at The EDGE that we proceeded to
reframe our publication to serve this population, thus the debut of Edge Life magazine.
In light of our new focus, we returned to Dr. Paul Ray to learn more about how this
subculture representing more than 50 million people on the planet is getting along.
He spoke with us about global acceptance of the Cultural Creative label, green business
and Election 2004. Read

A
FUTURIST: The Nearest Thing to a 21st century Oracle
Step
into the Future | by Brenda Miller
“What
is a futurist?” I am often asked. At first, it almost registers as if the
questioner knows, but invariably, like an itch that needs to be scratched, the question
begs to be answered. A futurist is often misinterpreted as a psychic, tarot reader
and soothsayer. Like the great Greek Oracles of Delphi, Dodona, Trophonius and Latona,
surely a futurist must see the future, if not predict it, otherwise what good is
one? And so begins my explanation to them.

NEXT STEP IN EVOLUTION: Exploring the Organizing Principles that Continue to Structure
our Mindset
Transpersonality

is the spiritual cost of knowing every day that one human being is taking aim at
another human being with intent to kill?” - Phil Steger, Augsburg College.
When Phil Steger, executive director of Friends for a Non-Violent World, spoke these
words at the rally for the Roadmap Out of Iraq, an appreciative roar emerged from
hundreds of attendees.

CRISIS?
WHAT CRISIS? GO BACK TO SLEEP
The
Last Word | by editor Tim Miejan
It's
Monday, October 25 -- always my favorite day of the year [my birthday] and I cannot
help thinking about a one-paragraph news item I clipped out of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press
three days earlier. Located near the bottom of a column of nation and world briefs,
the headline read: "Humans depleting Earth, group says." I did a double
take on that one.
