Edge
Life & Cultural Creatives
Leap Publications, which has published The EDGE newspaper
continuously for the past 12 years in the Upper Midwest,
has embarked upon its most sweeping change since its inception:
Edge Life. Not since the creation of Edge Life Expo in 2001
has the Ramsey, Minn.-based business been such front-page
news. With the redesign of The EDGE, both in terms of philosophy
and aesthetics, it is clear that these times-are-a-changin'
-- and you are a part of that change.
In its history, the free, monthly publication has grown
to become a folded, two-section tabloid that has served
the metropolitan markets of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Madison,
Milwaukee, Kansas City and Omaha. The redesigned version
is a one-section magazine with a regional scope serving
the Upper Midwest at first, and other markets in due time.
But what is Edge Life, anyway? Edge Life is more than a
fancy catchphrase ála Whole Life or Met Life. If
I were to add Edge Life to your dictionary of choice, I
think it would read like this: Edge Life -- The act of making
a choice with intuition and logic in a single moment, with
utter regard for the effect of that choice on the world
at large. His decision to invest in greencorporations was
totally in keeping with theprinciples of Edge Life.
After a dozen years of promoting and serving a niché
community focused on Spirituality, Metaphysics and Healing,
management of The EDGE has sensed that this community is
directly aligned with an emerging culture identified by
sociologist Paul Ray in his noteworthy book, The Cultural
Creatives: How 50 Million People are Changing the World
(Harmony Books, 2000). As such, Edge Life magazine will
share informative, meaningful and touching articles and
news that directly affects the lives of all men, women and
children in the 21st century.
With important interviews, and vital submissions provided
by this community, Edge Life hopes to assist you in your
evolution, in whatever way that manifests. In addition,
Edge Life will offer readers a variety of new resources
included in its annual advertising supplements and display
advertising published each month.
Edge Life is a far-reaching phenomenon. The most obvious
change is the incarnation of The EDGE, from a newspaper
to magazine, but Edge Life will reach into the community
in other ways. Edge Life Expos, returning to Minneapolis
Convention Center each November, will evolve to become an
expo that offers speakers and exhibitions that reflect a
full range of values that are important to all of humanity.
In addition, Edge Life Events, which produces a variety
of shows featuring single speakers, workshops and concerts,
also will reflect this change.
In the past dozen years, we have achieved a reputation for
quality and vitality, so much so that we constantly get
calls and e-mails from people in other parts of the country
and world who yearn for what we offer. Our goal is to continue
sharing information to as many people as possible -- in
print and on our website at Edgelife.net.
My sense is that the spiritual and healing nature that you've
come to expect in The EDGE has become a part of the collective,
in so many and unexpected ways. Our community at large is
thirsting to explore and uncover meaning in an infinite
variety of experiences and choices. Making this change to
Edge Life is a natural evolution. It is time. We hope to
help people awaken to the fact that the unspeakable joy
is not just something they can find, but rediscover within
themselves. In so many creative ways.
