Dreams and the balance of
energies
Smoke Signals
by Debbie Smoker
Dear Debbie,
I had a very disturbing dream the other night. Many of my dreams are fleeting, but
this one keeps returning to my thoughts. Whenever I have a really potent dream, I
write it down first person. I am hoping you can shed some light on what this one
may mean. Dream: I'm trying to babysit for a small boy who refuses to listen to me.
I know he needs to be disciplined, but his mother allows this behavior. Finally,
in frustration I consider quitting. Just then a huge bat flies out of a rafter in
this all-white room we're in. I scream and try to run, but he comes right at me and
latches onto the back of my head. I think it's just an itch and I reach up to scratch
it. I scream in horror when I hear the bat flap and feel his body. Suddenly I feel
a powerful vibration in my head and hear a loud hum. I realize he's doing something
to me and I wonder if I'll die. -- Lydia, Janesville, WI
Dear Lydia,
It seems you need to balance your masculine and feminine energies. The feminine is
domineering with a more carefree attitude, but your higher self is calling you to
settle down a bit and do your work. You get frustrated when you ignore your soul's
calling. This inner conflict causes you to burn a lot of energy unproductively. The
chaos makes you want to give up on yourself.
The white room you are in is symbolic of your higher self. The bat which latches
onto your head is there to get your attention. This is very exciting, because you
are about to embark upon a great spiritual journey, a journey of enlightenment. Bat
represents shamanistic death, which is the death of the initiate to the old ways
of life and personal identity. The vibration you felt and the hum you heard were
indicators that you were shifting to a higher frequency.
Congratulations! This is a time of rebirth for you. It is especially important for
you to meditate at this time and pay attention to books, people, classes and movies
that you are drawn to. They have messages for you. If you've been contemplating a
change of career or location, now is the time to go for it. Either way, celebrate
yourself and enjoy the journey!
