RUNNING
INTO MAGIC
An excerpt from a book in progress
by
Larry Alboher
The day began with a routine morning jog and ended with my initiation into timeless
mystery and mind-bending magic.
My esoteric teacher, Don Pablo, and I started to slowly circle the oval track of
a northern Mexico spa. Don Pablo, as usual, encouraged me to bring the energy in
my body down into my lower half and become fully grounded and connected to the earth.
Months later, I would truly learn what this connection felt like and why it was so
important. |
No
problem. Easiest Thing in the World
From the
Editor
| by
Tim
Miejan
Chris Hewitt, movie
reviewer and staff writer for the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, interviewed Tom Hanks three
months ago about his experience on the set of "The Ladykillers" with St.
Louis Park natives Joel and Ethan Coen. Hanks told Hewitt that one of the Coens'
lines in the film -- "No problem. Easiest thing in the world." -- became
a catchphrase on the set. |
SACRED
MOMENTS with Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen
provided
by Phil Bolsta
When I was in my
middle 40s, my mother, who was almost 85, elected to have coronary bypass surgery.
She had had recurrent episodes of pulmonary edema and had been rushed at night to
the emergency room over and over again. The surgery was a heroic effort to try to
gain a few more years for her, but it was high risk and ultimately unsuccessful. |

Inside Astrology |
by Bill Herbst
This month’s
column concerns an astrological event that’s already transpired (another
topic took precedence last month). So, like someone who was out of town for a dear
friend’s birthday and must now send a belated present, I offer this with
apologies.
Synchronicity:
The Modern-Day Mystical Experience
by
Frank Joseph
Synchronicity is
the most mysterious thing in the world. It is the term parapsychologists use for
"meaningful coincidence." It happens to everyone, more often than we realize.
Synchronicities are not "mere" coincidences, random accidents without significance.

Negativity. When
you see someone someone perpetually talking everything down, you feel the energy
component of it, and it drags you down. What is that all about, and what can be done
about it?

The
Day After Tomorrow
The
Movie Mystic
| by Stephen Simon
"Disaster"
movies. Why are we so drawn to them, particularly when they involve massive earth
changes?
As a possible answer to that question, and before we discuss the specific details
of The Day After Tomorrow, I would like to share with you the introduction to the
chapter in my book (slightly edited for this review) which I called: "Floods,
Fires, Earthquakes and Riots"-- otherwise known as the four seasons in Los Angeles.

Independent
State Health Freedom Groups Take Action!
by
Diane Miller and Jerri Johnson
The health freedom
movement is growing logarithmically! A very impressive and successful arm of the
movement is the effort to free up consumer access to the many kinds of healers and
health care practitioners who offer complementary or alternative care. This is being
accomplished by independent health freedom groups around the country that are creating
new laws. These laws recognize and protect the fundamental rights of consumers to
be in charge of their own health choices and bring practitioner rights back into
the public domain.

Spirit Medicine: Healing In the Sacred Realms
by
Hank Wesselman, Ph.D.
The energy body
is a composite field derived from three sources -- the energy of the mother, that
of the father, and the energetic infusion from our personal oversoul. These three
fields are links of connection, in turn, with our ancestral past, and because energy
never dies, we can't disconnect from those who've given life to us.
Smoking
& You: Quitting and Not Starting Again
Practical
Psychology
| by Lloyd J. Thomas
The verdict is in.
Nobody debates the issue any more. An estimated 346,000 people die prematurely every
year directly due to smoking. The link between smoking and death is solidly established.
Smoking definitely contributes to the two most deadly illnesses we Americans experience...heart
disease and cancer. This makes smoking THE major cause of preventable deaths in the
USA.
Coping
with the Challenges of Colic
by
Rita Louise
Colic is a common
problem in infants and an even more frustrating condition for parents to deal with.
As many as one in three of all infants experience colic. If an infant is going to
experience colic in its life, it will typically appear within the first few weeks
of life and will subside by the time the infant is 4 months old. Babies with colic
grow and develop normally, and it is rarely a factor in later physical or behavioral
problems.
