Let the Light Shine in your Soul
From the Editor | by Tim Miejan
These are the times that challenge your warrior soul. Each of you is a warrior. You
have an unbelievable capacity to get yourself out of difficult situations. While
your experiences sometimes seem too daunting, too difficult, too ugly and too much
to bear, you were born with the ability to rise from the ashes and fly again. You
are the phoenix.
You are a spiritual entity operating in a reality that hides your true nature. You
cannot see all that you are. Like air filling a balloon, you are spirit filling a
body. The body walks and talks and performs its daily routines, but you much more
than that body. You are an incredible magician who has the capacity to not only manipulate
the body, but also manipulate circumstances around you.
You've seen fantastical movies in which the central character chooses to create something
and -- voila! It appears. Is it just movie-making magic or sleight of hand? Perhaps.
But what our ancient lineage and modern esoteric wisdom shows us is that we have
that same capacity of creating something out of thin air in our everyday lives --
and we demonstrate it regularly, over and over...only to dismiss it as chance, luck
or synchronicity.
Want to know the incredible situation you gave yourself when you incarnated into
a body? You chose to play a very powerful game. This game we call Life has only one
central player. You. And when you are asleep, meditating or in a zone of very clear,
quiet space, a part of you determines what experiences would best challenge your
ability to be.
"Be what?" you might ask.
Be a loving soul. Be a confident soul. Be a strong soul who cares about others and
is committed to living in the flow of all of creation, as opposed to imposing personal
will over others for selfish gain. Be a soul who chooses to fulfill the goals and
intentions that you set prior to incarnating into this body.
So, you wake up in the morning, take a shower and eat and drink and get on with your
day -- without a clue that you're playing the game and that a much bigger part of
who you are has arranged myriad challenges and opportunities to force you come to
grips with who you are as a living, loving soul. Perhaps you choose to work on compassion,
and perhaps you'll experience a powerful opportunity to be compassionate toward a
fellow human being, or an animal, or yourself. It might be the scariest situation
in this lifetime, but you were given the ability to go through the experience, to
make choices and then come out on the other side to contemplate what it meant to
you, to consider whether you responded in the most compassionate way that you could
have or whether you still need some practice.
Perhaps, you will choose very powerful life-or-death experiences in which to practice
-- and learn incredibly important things in a flash. Or, perhaps you'll take small
steps and gradually build on your ability to master whatever you choose. Nonetheless,
we are learning and we are growing. We are evolving.
It might not seem like it if your focus is purely on the events of the day. More
Americans every day are having to bury loved ones who have died on the battlefield.
More and more Iraqis are doing the same. More and more Israelis and Palestinians
are doing the same. More and more African children, who have seen their parents and
millions like them die of AIDS and now must live as orphans, are doing the same.
Is this evolution? Are the men, women and children who are passing from this lifetime
to the life-between-lives doing so to send a message to the rest of us? And are we
hearing it?
Perhaps we have another hundred years, or thousand years, of fighting and killing
and dying before humankind tires of the sadness and the struggle and decides to do
everything possible to avoid taking one more human life. Or perhaps, as some prophesies
suggest, the era of peace will unfold in the next eight years, at the year 2012,
when the Mayan calendar mysteriously ends and continues no further. Perhaps we are
in the End Times when it is prophesied by Christians that two-thirds of the human
race will expire, with Christ returning to reign again. It is said that the darkest
hour is just before the dawn.
Don't let the dark skies overhead dampen your warrior spirit. And don't carry the
weight of the world's turmoil on your back. In reality, the battle between darkness
and the light takes place in your soul -- in each of our souls, simultaneously. We
all have our demons and kid fears of what might lie ahead for us -- and we can choose
whether or not to focus on those fears, to make them all-encompassing aspects of
our thoughts. We also can choose whether or not to focus on the infinitely powerful
light that surrounds us and protects us. We can walk in the light, knowing all-too-well
that our fears lurk in the shadows, waiting to spring on us in a moment of weakness.
The interesting part of this experience we call Life is that when we walk in the
light, we experience fewer moments of weakness. The shadows are replaced by brilliance
and our fears are replaced by confidence.
These are the times that challenge your warrior soul. I challenge you to become more
conscious in your choosing. Choose to step into the light and then to confront your
fears in that light. Choose to call forth all the protection and support that the
light offers you. And choose to be the soul who not only volunteered, but was selected,
to come back to Earth. Experience life with your heart wide open.
