The Passion of The Christ:
In A Blaze of Gory
The Movie Mystic | by Stephen Simon

This film, unlike most movies, makes it almost impossible not to respond in a very personal way to its philosophy and that's one reason why I believe that it will be looked upon as such a cultural milestone. Again, Gibson deserves much credit for bringing all of this into the public arena for discussion.

All that being said, I must also say that the entire film seemed like the dying gasp of an old ultra-religious paradigm that is rapidly fading into oblivion.
Be...in all Your Power
& Magnificence

From the Editor | by  Tim Miejan

Walking headlong into the sands of time, I come face to face with myself. Every time.
I tell myself, "We have to stop meeting like this."
Myself responds, "Yeah, right."
As if we can ever stop being who we are.

An Interview with Dan DeMuth: The Golf Whisperer -- Part 1
by Wes Hamilton | First of a seven-part series
I had an amazing experience last year while I was on my journey to learn how to play golf. I met Dan DeMuth, a golf professional, through a network of friends. When I was introduced to him, I felt like I knew him. We chatted for a few minutes and I recalled the full-page article that the Star Tribune did on this unique process of teaching people their "natural golf skills."

Secret of Sustainable Happiness -- Vision-inspired action
by  Jinendra Swami | Last of a three-part series
The quality of our actions and reactions depends upon our vision of life. A narrow vision is divisive. A broad vision is expansive. But, the supreme vision is all-inclusive -- and the higher the vision, the greater the mission.

Affirmation is the ticket for uncontrolled spending
Dear Louise | by Louise Hay
I struggle with uncontrolled spending. I feel as if I let all my money flow out -- although I have plenty flowing in. The shopping binges seem to be as addictive for me as alcoholic binges are for alcoholics. Is there an affirmation that can help me?

American Splendor: A Review
The Movie Mystic | by Stephen Simon
American Splendor traces the true-life story of Harvey Pekar, who became an underground comic book hero in the 1980s. The comic books are very appropriately called American Splendor and they detail Harvey's everyday life -- working as a file clerk in a Cleveland Hospital and generally feeling like the world was created to personally torment him.

Integrating Past, Present & Future
Writing as a Spiritual Practice -- Part Two
by Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg
Writing for anyone can be a way of seeing what's real, what's actual, what's meaningful as well as the connections between the real. Writing can be, and certainly is for many, a spiritual practice: a way to practice waking up and perceiving the whole of life more fully.

How Water reflects our Energy & Vibrational Frequency: The EDGE Interview with
Dr. Masaru Emoto

by Insiah Vawda Beckman

Japanese researcher Dr. Masaru Emoto, chief of the Hado Institute in Tokyo, is author of several books on the effect of energy that he calls Hado (pronounced "ha dough"). He defines Hado as "a vibrational frequency generated by the electrons orbiting the nucleus of an atom, the source of energy behind the creation of all things."

From his research, Dr. Emoto concluded that, "all things lie within your own consciousness." He believes that we should do our best to raise our Hado level by doing things such as saying blessings over our food and water and not accumulating negative feelings.

His groundbreaking research on the effect of human consciousness on water is illustrated in his books. Water is a very malleable substance. Its physical shape easily adapts to whatever environment is present, the energy or vibration of the environment will change the molecular shape of the water. He freezes droplets of water and then examines them under a dark field microscope that has photographic capabilities. The water crystal illustrations in his book reflecting the different energy patterns of prayer and sound are truly astounding. The crystalline structures of water from different sources and conditions around the planet reflect different geometric designs and crystalline patterns. Polluted and toxic water reflect distorted images, while water from pristine mountain streams and springs show beautifully formed geometric designs and patterns.

He answered a few questions in an interview with The EDGE.

Why did you specifically choose water to research?
Dr. Masaru Emoto:
My work in alternative healing led me to research the nature of water and its effect on healing people. Our physical bodies and our planet comprise of over 70 percent of water. From my research I was convinced of the effect of Hado (energy). I then found the water crystal technique to visibly prove my findings.

How much of your work has affected your life and the lives of people that you have met along your journey?
Dr. Emoto:
My work has changed my perception of Hado "energy" and it has made a profound difference in my life from practicing the methods of my findings in my life. This has also impacted on the lives of thousands of people by realizing how our energy patterns not only affect our water, but also our environment. My work will spread in many different ways, however. The true answer will be acknowledged after several decades.
This means our thought patterns and frequency levels also have an effect on the overall consciousness of the planet and the country we live in. The more we think love and peace, then not only will we live in a pristine environment but also live in peace and harmony, respecting all life on earth and beyond.

You write of "Messages from Water." Of all the messages, which message had a most profound effect on you?
Dr. Emoto:
A water crystal after showing the word: "Love and Gratitude" I found this to be the most beautiful and it touched my heart immeasurably.

Of the countries that you have visited, which country has the best program for its water quality and prides itself in having a clean environment?
Dr. Emoto:
I should say Germany, Austria and Switzerland. These countries are very aware of environmental issues and have special programs in place, which are adhered to very seriously.

The water crystal illustrations in your book, before and after prayer, also reflect the effect of electromagnetic energy from computers, cell phones, TV and microwave ovens. Can you expand on this?
Dr. Emoto:
In my new book, The Message from Water Vol. 3, I explain the effects more in detail on this subject. I would like to develop the study of religious measure in vibrational theory with visual proof in my work from now on. This, I am sure, will facilitate the remarkable similarities of different religions, which all come from the same source but are separated by structure and rituals.

Dr. Emoto coming to the Twin Cities
WAYZATA, Minn. -- "The Hidden Messages in Water," a presentation by a Japanese scientist and doctor of alternative medicine who has demonstrated the effect of words and vibrations of consciousness on molecules of water, will come to the Twin Cities May 4-5, courtesy of Twin Cities by AquaEssence ReSource (A.E.R.S.), a non-profit organization, and sponsors Horst M. Rechelbacher, Spring Forest Qigong Foundations, The Continuum Center, Pathways, Noetic Market Place, Eagle Trace Chiropractic, The EDGE and Powderhorn/Phillips Cultural Wellness Center.

Dr. Masaru Emoto, author of the groundbreaking books Messages From Water Vol. 1, 2, and 3, which chronicle and explain his research methods and results, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Wayzata Community Church in Wayzata. Advance tickets are $25 through ticketweb.com or by calling toll-free 1 (866) 468-3401. Tickets will be $33 at the door. Dr. Emoto's books will be available for purchase during a booksigning immediately following his presentation.

A reception also will take place from from 5:30-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, in Dr. Emoto's honor at The Continuum Center and Gallery, 2538 Hennepin Ave. S., Minneapolis. Dr. Emoto will sign books and mingle during an evening of great art, science and coversation. Tickets are $20 ($15 for Continuum Center members). Reservations appreciated but not required at (612) 374-4948 or e-mail info@continuumcenter.net

While in the Cities, Dr. Emoto also will attend a dialogue with professors at the University of Minnesota Center for Spirituality and Healing and will visit with fourth-grade students at Crossroads Elementary, a science magnet school in St Paul.

Dr. Emoto travels the world sharing his message of HADO, which is "the intrinsic vibrational pattern at the atomic level in all matter." During his 2004 U.S. tour, Dr. Emoto will share his stunning water crystal photographs and discuss how our thoughts and feelings affect physical reality. His reproducible research offers a major shift in our understanding of water and demonstrates, scientifically, the beneficial effects of prayer and sound. He provides compelling evidence that music, prayer, thoughts and words affect the molecular structure of water. The human body and the earth's surface are both comprised of approximately 70 percent water. More than any substance, water seems to define humanity.

In 1994, Dr. Emoto and his colleagues at the MRA Research Institute began taking photographs of frozen water crystals. These photos are taken inside a freezer that is at a temperature of -5° C. Dr. Emoto's books illustrate how water quality is reflected in its crystalline structure and how the nature of water can be affected by exposure to pollution, words, music, photos, and prayer. When we reflect on how our bodies are primarily made of water, the implications of Dr. Emoto's work are staggering.
