Workshop in Somatic Therapy
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Midwest Institute of Bodywork and Somatic Therapy, an alternative
healing school located at 5518 N. Antioch Road in Kansas City, is offering a three-part,
nine-hour introductory workshop for those interested in a career as a Certified Body
Somatic Practitioner.
The workshop is April 19 and 21 from 6-9 p.m., and April 24 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The cost is $100. For more information or to register, call (816) 453-3577.
Body somatics is a method of healing the body and maximizing well-being, developed
about 18 years ago by Carmelita Davis-Beets. Davis-Beets, with certifications in
acupuncture, Reiki, electromagnetic field balancing, neuro-muscular therapy, hypnosis,
cranial sacral therapy, yoga, weight training and Hellerwork, found that no healing
method existed that addressed equally the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual
aspects of our lives through the medium of the body. Body somatics, through deep
tissue manipulation, works directly with the cause of structural body problems through
the systematic release of congested, constricted muscle and fascia tissue.
"Certified Body Somatic Practitioners learn to restructure and realign bodies
to bring about healing and wholeness," says Davis-Beets. "Body somatics
clears the body, removes pain, and restores natural movement and balance, as well
as energy flow. The healing power of body somatics is truly amazing." The Midwest
Institute of Bodywork and Somatic Therapy is the only natural healing school of its
kind in the Midwest region of the United States. Courses are offered in energy medicine,
Shiatsu, Eastern medicine and other alternative healing methods.
The school is certified by the Missouri Department of Higher Education. Students
may take classes to increase their knowledge of alternative medicine, or work toward
certification. More information about the Midwest Institute of Bodywork and Somatic
Therapy can be found at the school's website at www.body-somatics.com.
Dr. Carol Parrish speaking in KC
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Dr. Carol Parrish, founder and spiritual director of the intentional
community of Sparrow Hawk Village, minister of Light of Christ Community Church,
and dean of its seminary, Sancta Sophia, will present "Reincarnation: Fact or
Fiction" from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at the Midtown Wellness Center, 3914
Washington, in Kansas City.
Long recognized as an inspired and visionary spiritual leader,
Dr. Parrish has stimulated many people to rejoice in their oneness
with God. Many people find hope in her lucid explanations of
how certain fundamental truths which underlie all major religions
can guide us in these changing times. Carol is the author of
10 books, including her latest published works: Three volumes
of Adventure in Meditation -- Spirituality
for the 21st Century, and the New Dictionary of Spiritual Thought.
She has also authored the Aquarian Rosary: Reviving the Art
of Mantra Yoga, and the New Age Handbook on Death and Dying.
Is it true that, as one commercial says, "we only go around once" in this
world? Or, like the planet in its cycle, do soul entities evolve through a series
of living experiences toward conscious Oneness? Once a precept of Eastern philosophy,
reincarnation finds increasing credence in many cultural and scientific realms today.
Indeed, many students of the arcane view the current transition time as one of mass
reincarnation. This explanation of historical, spiritual and esoteric ideas "reveals
reincarnation as an evolving tool for perfection, and an aid to the discovery of
the inner self."
For more information and reservations, call Lisa Garcia at (816) 561-9494. This event
is included in a series of psychospiritual experiences now offered in Kansas City
at Midtown Wellness Center (see Source listing this month).
Yuen Method workshop in Kansas City
Yes, she really believes it was a miracle. Yet, this is not miracle work. It is simply
a technique, one that allows your body to release symptoms on its own, without surgery,
medications, manipulations or therapies.
Prior to her surgery, Liz had a CAT scan done that showed thick matter blocking her
throat, a growth of some sort. It was then during her Yuen Method sessions with Tai
Njio that she became aware that the growth was not only caused by physical imbalances,
but there were actually layers of issues on many levels of existence that had weakened
her physically. Liz had already had five surgeries and lost one vocal cord. She had
to speak! She had three sessions with Tai Njio in the two weeks prior to her surgery.
On her scheduled day, in the surgery room, the procedure well under way, Liz's throat
surgically opened, the doctors were in disbelief.
This story is not a miracle. It is the Yuen Method of Chinese Energetics at work.
Tai Njio simply applied this method to Liz's health struggles. By identifying and
then instantly eliminating root causes of ailments and imbalances, Liz's symptoms
then released.
The Yuen Method, developed by Dr. Kam Yuen, is an energetic technique that combines
5,000 years of ancient Chinese Shaolin temple healing with Western knowledge, blending
anatomy, physiology, structural analysis, energetic technique, quantum physics and
Qi and Shen Gong training.
Tai Njio, one of Dr. Kam Yuen's top certified practitioners will demonstrate the
technique in the Kansas City area, beginning with a free lecture/demonstration on
March 31. The workshop is May 1-2. For more information, contact Sarah Wallbaum at
(913) 722-5377. For more details on the Yuen Method, visit www.InstantEnergetics.com
or call Tai Njio at (303) 554-9855.
Dr. David Hawkins, a renowned psychiatrist, to facilitate retreat at Unity Village
UNITY VILLAGE, MO. -- Nationally renowned psychiatrist, physician, researcher and
lecturer Dr. David Hawkins will facilitate a retreat May 8-12 at Unity Village, 1901
Northwest Blue Parkway.
Dr. Hawkins has been a guest of the McNeill-Lehrer News Hour, Barbara Walters and
The Today Show.
In early 21st century America, we live in a state of materialism and perpetual need.
Dr. David Hawkins has the ultimate answer to this ongoing dilemma. Dr. Hawkins will
share tools to transcend the ego in favor of a pure state of self-realization in
which you are permanently content with your life circumstances as they are.
In his mid-30s, Dr. Hawkins abandoned a successful New York City clinical practice
in order to seek spiritual solace in Sedona, Ariz. "In New York, I had 50 employees
working for me. I had a housekeeping staff, a cook, and every material possession
one could ever wish for -- and one day, I suddenly abandoned it all, and I've never
looked back. Abandoning the material wealth was the best thing I have ever done."
Hawkins' book, Power vs. Force, has been on the bestseller list and is the culmination
of 20 years of research. In Power vs. Force, Dr. Hawkins reveals the ability of kinesiological
testing to distinguish the truth or falsehood in any statement and the powerful application
of this discernment in business, art, sports and other areas of life. Hawkins further
explains the spiritual application of this discovery, as a path to enlightenment.
The volume concludes with a fascinating narrative of the author's own journey from
materialism and atheism toward spiritual enlightenment.
The cost of the Unity retreat is $595, which includes lodging for Saturday night,
May 8, through Tuesday night, May 11. For more information, visit www.unityonline.org or call (816) 347-5530. To register,
call toll-free 1 (866) 348-6489. |
