Going Within with Dr. David
Hawkins
UNITY VILLAGE, Mo. -- Imagine a permanent state of existence in which you were perfectly
contented with your place in the world, where you no longer believed yourself to
be lacking in wealth or material possessions, and where the status of your occupation
-- or lack thereof -- was no longer important to you. This state of existence can
be yours.
Unity's retreat with world-renowned psychiatrist, author and lecturer Dr. David Hawkins
on May 8-12 will explain that. During this enlightening retreat, Dr. Hawkins will
trace the evolution of consciousness, from its infancy through evolution and up through
the present time. Threaded into this framework is the discussion of the origin and
structure of the ego. Understanding the evolution and framework of the ego will allow
you to comprehend the concepts necessary to transcend ego, rather than continuing
to struggle with it. The ego is responsible for mankind's feelings of lack and inadequacy.
"By removing the obstructions of the ego," Dr. Hawkins explains, "the
reality of our own divinity shines forth of its own accord."
Dr. Hawkins began experiencing states of enlightenment at the age of 3.
"A state of enlightenment is self-revealing," explains Hawkins. "It
is analogous to experiencing space without form. The experience is outside of time,
dimension or locality or any other limiting factor. It is absolute, beyond time,
divinely silent. It is a condition beyond mind itself."
In his 30s, Dr. Hawkins was running a successful New York psychiatric practice with
50 employees working for him.
"I had a successful career, a housekeeping staff, and all the material wealth
anyone could ever ask for," Hawkins recalls. "And one day, I simply walked
away from it. My state of consciousness told me I didn't need all of those things."
Hawkins fled to spiritually oriented Sedona, Ariz., where he lived on "practically
nothing and was the happiest I had ever been in my entire life." Today, Hawkins
has built a successful career in writing, research and worldwide lecturing, as he
endeavors to teach others how to get their priorities in order.
"The ego experiences each moment as incomplete," Hawkins asserts. "Therefore,
it is always lacking something. Without the intrusion of the ego, one is completely
satisfied, no matter of one's circumstances. The ego stops craving experiences and
excitement, that sense of control, the longing for possessions."
Dr. Hawkins has been a guest of the McNeill-Lehrer News Hour, Barbara Walters and
The Today Show. Hawkins' book, Power vs. Force, was on the bestseller list and is
the culmination of 20 years of research. In Power vs. Force, Dr. Hawkins demonstrates
the ability of kinesiological testing to distinguish the truth or falsehood in any
statement and the powerful application of this discernment in business, art, sports
and other areas of life.
What can those attending Dr. Hawkins' retreat hope to gain from the experience? "You
will come away from the experience having been truly transformed," Dr. Hawkins
says.
The cost of the retreat is $595, which includes lodging for Saturday night May
8 through Tuesday night May 11, as well as meals and snacks. For more information,
