One Voice
That voice that you hear
Alone in your head,
Well, I hear it too
With all that is said.
That voice that is thinking
Your thoughts all alone,
Well, I'm thinking too
Some thoughts of my own.
So put this on your plate
To chew on awhile,
That voice that you hear
Has us all to beguile.
You hear it say blue
While I hear it say red.
Feeling sad or happy
Depends on that voice in your head.
It speaks many tongues
And to each remains clear
Yet that voice in your head
Is the one we all hear.
One voice, one voice
Saying so many things,
Just look around you
To see what it brings.
One thought, one beginning
The source of it all.
That voice in your head
Is like a bouncing ball.
You hear it, I hear it
None of us find it odd.
Perhaps that voice in your head
Is what we call God.
It is the beginning and the end
Of all things that are
From starting a fire with sticks
To causing nuclear war.
One voice, one voice
We all hear one voice.
What we do with it now
Is clearly our choice.
You may try to end it
By slaying your brother
But that voice you just killed
Will be replaced by another.
That voice is us
And is now getting stronger,
The thought that we're different
Will serve us no longer.
One voice, one voice
This connection within,
I hear it, you hear it
Let it teach us to win.
Freedom and peace
For all humankind,
That one voice you do hear
Is our link to the divine.
