Healing Energies and Dynamic Balance
by Barbara Shipka

We are rivers of light flowing in rivers of light flowing through us.

I offer guidance and support for you to creatively and harmoniously engage your energies with the energies of the river of your life. Following is but one of an infinite number of ways to work with energy.

Do you long to:
¥ surrender more fully into and cooperate with the river of your life?
¥ experience more mystery and synchronicity in your life?
¥ transform suffering into grace and balance?
¥ more gently traverse times of change and transition?
¥ more fully find and/or deepen your unique contribution?
¥ open to new possibilities, potential, gifts?

Myriad energies are always available to us for healing such longings. We have been taught to be skillful and at home in the realm of physical energies -- the universe of the five senses. It is also possible to become skillful and at home in the realm of subtle energies -- the universe beyond our five senses. In fact, it is our birthright to holistically bring these two realms together in a dynamic balance.

A challenging way we may come to know this dynamic balance of healing energies is through trauma. In those times when our lives unravel, we can close or we can open. What we cannot do is continue to think we are in control. Such times offer portals into new worlds of deep understanding and knowing. When we choose to step through such a portal, "something more" becomes available to us.

And yet, while experiencing trauma may be a common way we step through portals into the deeper, clearer, and more meaningful times of our lives, it is not the only way. In each and every moment we can choose to sleep or to awaken to becoming more and more conscious.

As we work together in our coaching sessions, we consciously explore both energy realms. We blend them and move between them, depending on what is most useful in the moment. We "look into" what assists you that you may more fully harmonize and bring the energies of the physical and the subtle realms into dynamic balance with THESE waters, in THIS time, and THIS place in the river of your life.

Two realms of energies
Physical energies: Feet on the Earth, providing roots, movement and a container. The realm of physical energies is pragmatic and grounded in the "real world" of time and space. Its direction is linear and it is made up of what we see and expect to see. Its timeframe is finite and its speed is slower than light. We access this energy and its gifts through our five senses as we collect data, learn from current facts and past knowledge, analyze, problem-solve and use trial and error experimentation. This is the domain of cause and effect.

Subtle energies: Connecting with the Stars and opening to limitless possibilities. The realm of subtle energies is creative and not bound by time and space. Its direction is non-linear and emergent. We experience it as bringing forth something out of nothing. Its timeframe is infinite and its speed is faster than light. It is what we call coincidence, mystery and synchronicity. We access this energy and its gifts primarily through our sixth and other senses. We open to breakthrough and archetypes, to accessing our deep knowing, and to inspiration and originality, insight, pure potential and the miraculous. This is the domain of simultaneity.

Both realms of energies offer us profound and useful gifts. With each realm we have choices to resist or harmonize.

To resist is to suffer. We are taught to value, trust and access the physical realm over the subtle. Thus, when subtle energies may be what are most called for -- letting go, floating, observing or listening deeply to intuition -- we try instead to apply energies of the physical realm. We frame life as a problem to solved. We attempt to overcome the river by damming or dredging it, or by clawing at its banks.

Or, on the other hand, because we cannot see the subtle energies, we resist them without realizing it. We seek physical proof for belief where there is none. We fear the very river itself and its ability to carry us as we float. We confuse activity with worth, cure with healing, and are confounded by trying to figure out what it means to BE -- never mind what it means to be at peace.

Riding a wave
To harmonize is to come into a dynamic balance. "Peace" is often understood as stillness or stasis. Yet, true peace is dynamic. It is being at home with flow and change, being present in each and every moment. "Balance" is often understood as equality or the equilibrium of the justice scales. Yet, true balance is also dynamic. It is the result of powerful focus and attention along with a joyful choice to cooperate with the cosmos. An image that comes to mind is a surfer riding a wave.

Because we live in the physical world with all of its subtle influences, dynamic balance means oscillating like a tuning fork between visible and invisible energies. Dynamic balance means valuing apparent opposites -- light/dark, masculine/feminine, ancient/emerging, stillness/activity -- as complementary aspects of the whole. As such, we can access them as needed and without judgment.

In and of itself, no amount of controlling the river by damming or dredging can heal our deepest longings. Learning to let go and float, learning to draw upon the power of the river to carry us is also essential. As children, play gifted us with the muscle development, learning, and experience that assisted us in comprehending and using the physical energies of our five-senses bodies. With life coaching as a form of sacred or high play, we can again engage in muscle development, learning, and experience as a way of better comprehending and using the subtle energies of our beyond-the-five-senses bodies.
