The Soulful
Politics of
Dennis Kucinich
by
Lydia Howell
Exhilaration rippling through crowds that hear Dennis Kucinich contradicts media
pundits' dismissal of the Ohio congressman's presidential campaign. The only candidate
to vote against war on Iraq, Kucinich isn't just a fierce critic of destructive policies,
but a practical visionary. His proposed a Cabinet-level Department of Peace (with
50 Congressional co-sponsors), would "make non-violence an organizing principle
of our society": from healing the microcosms of domestic violence and child
abuse to addressing gangs and police brutality, expanding globally to human rights,
international treaties (abandoned by the Bush Administration) and strengthening co-operation. |
What the
world needs now...
From the Editor | by Tim Miejan
I venture to guess that few
of us actually bother to make resolutions or New Years wishes anymore. Perhaps it's
gone the way of that song no one really knows the words to, "Auld Lang Syne,"
with its toasts to kindness and the good old days. Nonetheless, I believe there clearly
is no better way for humanity to move forward instead of backward than for it to
collectively express a positive affirmation in 2004. We have had numerous and seemingly
spontaneous global meditations in recent years. Let's do it again on January 1. |
Electric
High-Ways to the Stars
An Unusual Holiday Gift
by
James M. McCanney
Four score and three years
ago, one of our forefathers (John F. Kennedy) proclaimed a new era for man. His vision
was based on the scientific reality that we could now build a rocket large enough
to carry the required payload into orbit that would then take a small crew of men
to the moon and return them safely to Earth. An unwritten assumption by all of us
in the USA was that this was just the beginning "step" to a much larger
endeavor. |

Surviving
Our Future Through the Message of Our Past
by
Gregg Braden
We are a mysterious species of extremes and contradictions. It has been said that
we are capable of dreaming the most beautiful dreams, while harboring the darkest
nightmares. At the same time, within each of us is the power to bring our visions
to life. Perhaps at no other time in history have we shared our world with so many
of our kind, while feeling so separate and alone. Perhaps at no time in our past
have we viewed our future with such promise, yet so much uncertainty.
Our
Connected Universe: We are Not Alone
In faith: A Sikh View
| by Karta Purkh Khalsa
I am sitting across from my wife, gently holding hands. We are meditating. We are
connected in mind, body and spirit.
We are surrounded by more than a thousand other people sitting in the same posture.
We all are meditating. We are all connected in mind, body and spirit.
We
are Creator: Let us Accept that We are the All of Life
by
Amy Schmelzer
It would serve each of us to
accept, as God -- as holographic fragments of Creator, as finite sparks of the infinite...however
you choose to look at it -- that we are each the whole of life. We are to be the
Alpha and the Omega in our experiences here, then, are we not? |
Our Global

not the eternal name. The Nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth."
Citizens
of Planet Earth: Meet the Uni-Verse by discovering it again in yourself
by
Darryl Pokea
The challenges of recent world events can lead our minds into the illusions of hopelessness,
helplessness and despair. Accompanying these congested processes, there are equally
intense offerings of hope, courage, healing and enlightenment through our Creator's
image in the great diversity, among our truly loving Spirits.
Actors
on The Stage of Life
by
Marilyn Tokach
Act 59: As the scene opens,
a heavy-set, middle-aged man is lying helplessly in a rented hospital bed in the
middle of the family room. A woman with slouched shoulders and dark, baggy circles
under her eyes administers his medication, checks his oxygen tank and brings her
drifting thoughts back to the room as he begins to complain about the cold. His words
bring her back to the frustration of the world she now occupies with him. |

Michael Jackson:
His Astrology Past and Future
by
Curtis Burns
Michael Jackson without a doubt
is a powerful, charismatic figure on the world scene. It seems that some people just
"got it" more than others. Having a powerful presence can virtually assure
one of success and all of its rewards if one works hard for it, but it also carries
a great responsibility, which a lot of celebrities and politicians have misused.
Principle
9: The Principle of the Neutral Universe
Mind Chatter | by Bill Harris
There is a Zen story of a great
enlightened master who, upon hearing of his own master's death, began to cry uncontrollably.
His followers were shocked to see him cry. "Why are you crying? You're enlightened.
You're supposed to be beyond suffering. What will people think?" He composed
himself as best he could, and turning to them he said, "What can I do? My eyes
are crying. They are so sad that they will never again see this teacher I loved so
much."
Good
Vibrations
by Angie Bailey
It's practically a guarantee
that flipping on the news or opening up a newspaper will send you flying in the face
of some awful scenario detailing rape, theft, arrests and cancer. As I try and avoid
this type of "news" more and more, I become increasingly aware that I cannot
seek shelter from it!
Tibetan
Buddhist monk offers guidance in Madison
by
Lyrea Crawford
A man wearing the simple robes
of a Buddhist monk sits below brightly colored banners in an upstairs apartment in
Madison, Wisc. He is the Venerable Younge Khachab Drodul Rinpoche -- a high Lama,
meditation master and Rime scholar. He is here to offer Buddhist teachings and empowerments
that are rarely available in this country, and to serve as the spiritual director
of the Rime Shedrub Ling Tibetan Buddhist Meditation and Teaching Center.
Meaningful
Coincidences
How you can tap into the magic of synchronicity
by Jill
Wellington
While I was a television news
reporter for 18 years, running down stories about everything from government scandals
to house fires, I had coincidences so remarkable, my co-workers dubbed it Wellington
Luck. I had it almost every day, and totally relied on it.
Jinendra
Swami: A messenger of Sustainable Happiness
by
Vicki Gustafson & Elisabeth Phillips
It's just like any other day,
but I am anxious and excited. It was going to be my first meeting with Jinendra Swami
from Pune, India. He was visiting Madison to conduct some programs on how to bring
health, healing and harmony in our lives. As he walks out of the arrival gate, I
recognized him in spite of his attire: white knit polo shirt, slacks, sandals, baseball
cap and a backpack slung over one shoulder. I could feel his radiance, his aura,
as he walked towards me with a big knowing smile on his bearded face.
Thought
is a Creative Power
In the Spirit of
Unity |
by Jeanette Monterio
Thought is a creative power
and is the seed from which all of creation manifests. Thoughts are the moving force
within an idea that gives that idea expression. I only need to look as far as my
desk to know that everything in front of me was created by the moving force of thoughts.
The pen, the computer, the stack of books, and yes, even the lukewarm coffee, was
once a thought in someone's mind. Within a 12-inch radius is physical evidence of
thousands of thoughts from thousands of people. To accept responsibility for our
thoughts is to take charge of our lives. |

"The" Holidays. Family.
Close friends. The end of one year and the beginning of a new one. A time when one's
heart may be at its most vulnerable -- either fully open to the warmth of all the
love that the season can imply, or, perhaps, fully susceptible to the loneliness
that can seem almost unbearable in the longing for family, a significant other, health,
or peace of mind.

The Importance
Of The Physical Body And The Role It Plays
by
Mary Ida Adams
In ancient China, there was
an understanding that the longer one lived, the further one could go on one's journey
of self-development. On the continuum of life, birth comes, followed by life, followed
by death. And then, according to ancient Chinese teaching, the cycle repeats itself,
again and again --a process we identify as reincarnation. However, it was felt that
much time was wasted in the death and birth segments of the cycle before one could
resume one's development.
A
message on forgiveness
by
Thomas William Harding
AI have been on a self-healing
and soul-searching mission for many years. Last month, I was thinking about my latest
health issue, edema, which is water that is retained in the body, usually in the
legs due to gravity. I was thinking about what that is, the retaining of water or
fluid. Retaining means to "Hold in," so I wanted to know what I was holding
in.
How I
got my life back -- And how you can, too
by
Sol
At 27, life came crashing down.
One day I was playing basketball three hours on end, able to eat and drink whatever
I pleased; the next, I was gripped by a mysterious illness that took away the foods,
drinks and sports I loved, and even -- in the way chronic illness has of stripping
one clean -- many of the people I loved.
The
Wonder of Shiatsu
by
Janet Lang Smith
I recently had a Shiatsu treatment
for the first time, and it was wonderful. So wonderful, in fact, that I'd love to
tell you all about it -- only I can't quite find the words to describe it! I've had
regular massages, structural bodywork, and electromagnetic field balancing, but Shiatsu
is completely different from anything I've experienced -- and it comes close to defying
description!
Thai
Rishi Yoga
excerpted
from Bob Fickes and written by Mary Beth Curry
Thai Rishi Yoga developed from
teachings of Lord Buddha, which emphasized living in greater harmony with nature.
According to Buddha, nature is the best healer. Once we learn to honor nature, our
life becomes more peaceful and fulfilling. When we are out of harmony with nature,
we create stress and congestion in our body, mind, and spirit, as well as friction
in the world around us. |

Prayers for Yellowstone
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK -- Yellowstone National Park is possibly nearing a significant
violent eruption, say scientists. Physical evidences of rising pressures and temperatures
suggest the potential for crisis is accelerating. A major explosion in this northern
Wyoming region could adversely affect communities hundreds of miles into neighboring
states.
Solomon Hizme, clairvoyant for 35 years, is convinced the danger to the north-central
United States from Yellowstone Park is worthy of serious attention now.
Concerned citizens are asked to join in prayer for divine intervention to reduce
the severity of Yellowstone's disruption or to eliminate it entirely. Mass prayer
is intended to alleviate unnecessary anguish and pain of people bordering Yellowstone.
"Your blessed intention is the most powerful gift to Mother Earth," says
Solomon. "We request that everyone pray to God and/or spirit in their own way."
"We all join our love and light to bestow a healing on mother earth with the
Blessing of God, the angels and ascended masters. We ask this blessing, with all
those of pure heart, be accepted by mother earth to ease or eliminate the potential
danger while reducing the severity of this transition in Yellowstone Park."
Solomon Hizme successfully predicted many events including the stock market crash
of 2001. Guided to come to Montana approximately two years ago by his angels and
the Archangel Michael, Solomon has chosen to help communities form small spiritual
groups throughout his adopted state and elsewhere.
Solomon will be lecturing and providing workshops in Livingston, Montana in January,
regarding the incredible changes coming to Montana. People today, says Solomon, are
keenly concerned about the coming economic crisis and protecting life and equity,
specifics that he will be addressing.
Solomon can be reached at (406) 963-9129. |
