The Importance Of The Physical Body And The Role It Plays
by Mary Ida Adams
In ancient China, there was an understanding that the longer one lived, the further one could go on one's journey of self-development. On the continuum of life, birth comes, followed by life, followed by death. And then, according to ancient Chinese teaching, the cycle repeats itself, again and again --a process we identify as reincarnation. However, it was felt that much time was wasted in the death and birth segments of the cycle before one could resume one's development.

Then a man named Bodhidharma came to China from northeastern India. He was a great master trained in Dhanur Ved, the military branch of Indian Vedic tradition. Bodhidharma was dismayed at the state of physical deficiency among the monks.

Long periods of meditation without first training on the physical level had caused deterioration and deficiency of their bodies. Without a strong body to support long meditation, one's self-development could only proceed so far. Often death occurred before their goal was attained.

Bodhidharma trained the monks on the physical level. Once the physical "container" was strong, the monks were able to spend many years exploring and developing the spiritual levels, even living hundreds of years in the same physical body. Thus, they were able to attain very high states before death.

Individuals on the spiritual path often overlook the enormous importance of the physical body and the role it plays in our overall progress up the mountain. People often want to skip over the body and get right to the mental and energetic experience. There can be a temptation toward an attitude that physical training is "lower level" and therefore not as spiritual. But truly, you can only travel so far on the spiritual path with an undeveloped physical body. The physical is spiritual, and your physical body contains the entire potential of your journey.

One may say there is unlimited energy in the universe, and that all you have to do is tap into that energy. If that's true, why are there so many tired and sick people, even in the healing arts profession?

According to physics, each one of us has enough potential energy residing in our bodies to light up the entire city of Chicago. Bodhidharma taught how to convert this enormous potential into higher vibration energy (qi), through mechanical stimulation of the body.

Today, we have found a similar teaching in Kaishan Golden Shield to access that potential energy. Because of the uniqueness of this system the closest way to describe it is to use the more familiar term of qi gong (energy work). It is very different from any other system and the best way to describe it is to use the phrase "Intended Evolution."

When Dr. Zhang came to the U.S., he took a vow to teach this secret and rare form of qi gong, or "intended evolution" for the development of health and longevity only, and not for martial purposes. Dr. Zhang is the first individual to bring this system to the public. This remarkable system gets results so quickly and powerfully it has been kept a closely guarded secret for hundreds of years. It was never even taught to the public in China and still isn't.

It is being taught to the public for the first time, anywhere, here in the U.S. Dr. Zhang co-established the Kaishan Institute of Natural Health with lead instructor Ed Fleischman in 1996. Kaishan's completely unique internal energy system has been tested and proven by hundreds in Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, California, Colorado, New York, Arizona and British Columbia.

Kaishan Golden Shield aims to restore the individual to what Dr. Zhang refers to as the "super health" level. By building and cleansing all the systems of the body, we develop our natural ability to maintain incredibly high levels of physical and mental health.

The key to Kaishan Golden Shield is activating and converting the enormous potential energy stored in our body, (jing), into actual energy (qi). This converted energy feeds into our organ system, strengthening it. The excess energy spills into our meridian structure, (internal wiring system), removing blocks stored there, widening and maturing the meridians. The energy is collected and contained. One unique benefit to this system is that you never lose the level you develop. There is a method of "sealing" the student so they never fall below that level, they can only grow.

You can feel more life energy course through your body when you exercise. Now you can convert and circulate that dormant, stagnant potential energy through the practice of Golden Shield.

Anyone who hopes to access and maintain higher levels of energy must have their internal wiring system matured so that side effects and "frying" of the circuits does not occur. Take care of your body and develop its potential.
