She spoke with The EDGE by phone to share some insight into what we can expect from
her keynote presentation.
Your appearance at Edge Life Expo will include spirit contact and a clairvoyance
demonstration. What would like our readers to know about this topic?
Marilyn Rossner: I would like everybody to know that I'm going to be talking
and sharing with people techniques on how to make contact with spirit. We're going
to look at what happens after the change called death, why do spirits want to come
and talk to us, what is the purpose of making contact with spirit, and of course
I will share the gift of clairvoyance and psychometry. I'll use different modalities,
such as flower psychometry. I'll hold flowers and get messages from spirit and give
flowers to different people. I will do clairvoyance, which is clear seeing into the
other world, and clairaudience, clear hearing into the other world. My purpose of
all of this is very simple. Life goes on after the change called death.
Professionally, I'm a special educator in the field of Psychiatry. I have taught
at universities and colleges for nearly 40 years, and the greatest fear people have
is the fear of death. When we look at what's happening in the world now with all
the advanced medical techniques, we still see so many more people in depression,
so many people with fear, with addictions, with traumas, and the drug culture is
so very strong, and alcoholism is certainly not on the decline. We have to ask ourselves
why?
When I look at people from all walks of life, all cultures, I find one similarity.
People do not know what happens after the change called death. Some people are terrified
that they are going to burn in a hell, some are terrified that they're going to dissolve
and become nothing, some are terrified that they will not ever be able to have contact
with someone when they die. Many of these people, because of fear and the unknown,
feel that life is not worth living.
I took an early retirement from my career to be able to travel throughout the world
and to let people know about the truth of life after death. It's always the same:
People want to know why haven't we been told this? Why have we been told that only
certain people have some sort of a power? I'd like to say it's not a power, it's
a gift. We all come to Earth with the ability to know our purpose, our goal and our
mission. No one's birth is an accident. We actually select our birth parents, we
select our race, our culture and the conditions under which we're going to be born.
When we come to this Earth, we come with a group of spirit guides who will be with
us our entire lives. They will not live our lives but they will help us fulfill our
purpose, our goal and our mission. At the end of our earth life, when we move up
out of our body, our spirit guides will also be with us.
The point I'm trying to make is that no birth is an accident. No one is on the earth
to do what is considered to be nothing. Everyone has a purpose, and my purpose in
going throughout the world is to say to people: Listen, when you came to Earth you
knew you were coming to do something. While you were in the womb, you were aware
of everything that was happening. You also knew the challenges. You also knew that
there would be opportunities while you were on the Earth to overcome the challenges.
So you came with all the tools you would need to be able to understand and fulfill
your purpose, your goal and your mission. As a young child you heard spirit, you
saw spirit, you had visions and you knew certain things. But most of the time you
were told things like "that's just your imagination," "it's not really
true," "maybe it's just this or because you ate that" or "maybe
it's because you didn't have a good night's sleep."
People tend to push down their intuition, they tend to push down their creativity,
they tend to push down their natural ability to make contact with spirit. The more
they push it down, the more they allow themselves to have suppressed emotions. Suppression
often leads to depression. If you look at what's been happening, it's only now in
the past 10 or 20 years that people are becoming so open about spirit. But spirit
phenomenon has always existed. Now, at least, people are looking deeply into areas
like intuition, how the mind works, psychosomatic conditions. But the truth really
is that spirit always was and is and will be.
I was really born with the gift. I became aware of it at the age of 4. At the age
of 6, I began to have visions of my dead relatives. That kind of startled my parents,
because the relatives I was describing were people who had been murdered in the holocaust.
That's how it started. So my parents took me to a great mystic, a rabbi actually.
They were told that I had a gift and they should take care of me. So they did. They
took his words literally. My parents had no education. They were very, very poor
financially. But they had love of god. They taught us to respect all religions, all
traditions, and I grew up thinking we're all one.
What a shock I had when, at the age of 14, I discovered not everybody sees spirit,
not everybody hears spirit, not everybody talks to the dead, not everybody sees the
colors in the aura. I was really shocked. What I've always wanted to do since I was
a young child was work with kids. I decided to study the field of behaviorism. I'm
a behavioral scientist by profession. So I'm probably more objective and more skeptical
than most people. I decided to look at why kids are banging their heads? Why are
they pulling the skin off their bodies? Why are they kicking walls?
Why are Columbine High Schools happening?
Rossner: Yes, exactly. I was in Spain for a week with medical people and those
from the psychological system, and they're saying, "We don't know why so many
people are talking about these kinds of experiences, and there has to be some kind
of an answer." There is an answer. The answer is to understand who we are, and
not just as a simple statement, but to be able to help people go back into that inner
state, which is done so simply. Learning how to alter the brainwave frequencies going
into that relaxed state, learning how to understand the difference between universal
symbols, cultural symbols, personal condition symbols. There are ways of dealing
with this phenomenon, and it's so natural.
I also want to say that although I'm considered to be a well-known medium, it's nothing
to do with extrasensory perception. There's no such thing as extra sensory perception.
It's extended sensory perception. We don't have any extra appendages; it's extended
and everyone has it. We need to learn how to use it. Different people use it in different
ways. I always say the person who is able to work with plants, that person is using
it. The person who is able to write, that person is using it. We don't all have to
stand up and give messages from the spiritual world.
What I hope to do at Edge Life Expo is to encourage people that what they have suspected
all their lives, that there is something within them that is always going to be.
To give them encouragement to go for it. To understand it. To know for sure that
their loved ones are really around them. To know that we live after the change called
death. To know personal responsibility. To know that there's one universal creator.
To know that there isn't a Jewish Heaven and a Christian Heaven and a Yogic Heaven
and a Buddhist Heaven and a Muslim Heaven, etc. To know that there is one Universal
God. And to know that spirit communication is a naturally facility.
By the way, until we realize it is natural, we'll continue to spend $5,000 to see
someone else do it. So that's my purpose. I have two hats: a very academic behavioral
scientific hat and the mediumship hat. I see them like two sides of the same coin.
I say it like this. We have outer sense, but we also have inner senses. We need to
learn how to contact those inner senses, which we can do through meditation, brainwave
techniques, yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Focusing, certain kinds of music, mantras. There
are many ways we can use to be able to go into that state. Then we need to know when
we're in that state so that we don't have creations of the mind, so we can tell the
difference between what is a real intuition, what is coming from spirit, as opposed
to what is a figment of my mind.
I'm trying to help people make sense out of our extended sense perceptions, that
part of our inner selves that is the eternal, immortal part.
And how can we tap into that part to change the world we live in.
Rossner: Exactly. How can we use that in a positive way. We need to learn what
is happening to us when we look at certain images. How can we be, as St. Paul says
in the New Testament, "Be in the world and not of the world." How can we
learn to make decisions when we're in that altered state? How can we learn to trust
what we are experiencing? How can we focus our attention to change what is negative
into positive?
There is a Sanskrit prayer that is one of my favorites. It's translated like this:
"Oh infinite creator. Lead us from the darkness into the light. From the unreal
to the real. From the fear of death to the knowledge of immortality." In other
words, how do we learn what is the real world? The real world is not killing. It's
never anyone's purpose or karma to kill, to commit suicide, or have power over people.
The whole idea is to be able to make sense out of this and use it in a positive way
to do what the great Master Sivananda says: "We come to Earth to serve, to love,
to give, to purify, to meditate, and to realize who we are."
You have had the gift of clairvoyance and being able to contact spirits and guides
and angels since you were very young. Why do you think so many people who have passed
on have such a strong desire to contact their loved ones still on Earth?
Rossner: Because their inner self is telling them, "Look, we are one with
you, we want you to know we are all right." And because people want to know
what really happens to us after the change called death. With so many things happening
in the world, it is great consolation for people to know that we really do live after
we die. There is a great desire now to know truth. There's been so much hidden material
for so many years. I don't like that term "new age." I call it the True
Age. It's the time for Truth to manifest. Because it's the time for truth to manifest,
people are really seeking after truth. We are truth seekers.
In all your experiences with all the contacts you've made over the years with
various spirits, guides and angels, has there been any message that has remained
consistent over the years?
Rossner: Always the same message over and over again: We are one in the spirit,
One in the Lord. Love thy neighbor as thyself.
Do you feel that this message is finally beginning to set in with people? That
we are finally listening?
Rossner: Oh absolutely. In spite of what's going on in the outside world, I see
such a change. When I began, there were few people who were daring to come out and
talk about this. Now, thousands and thousands of people, as we'll see at the expo,
are ready. Actually, they've always been ready, but people in power have kept the
lid on.
Was there a single defining moment or moments that caused you to devote your life
towards your purpose?
Rossner: Very definitely, yes. I had a vision at age 4 when I saw all kinds of
children holding hands in a circle and they were saying, "We are one in the
spirit, one in the Lord." And then I saw this face, which turned out to be Master
Sivananda's face, and he said, "You will teach." Since then, I have only
wanted to do two things. To let the world know that the souls of special needs children
are perfect, their spirits are perfect. They have come here with a purpose. My other
purpose has been to help people know that life goes on after the change called death.
We also need to learn how to die consciously. To look toward the light when we pass
on.
So if we take away the fear of dying that many of us have...
Rossner: The benefits would be no suicide. Very little if any alcoholism. People
would not be so quick to take mind-altering drugs. We would stop fighting with one
another and stop killing one another. If I know I'm going to see you after I die,
how can I be mean to you? Knowing about life after death helps us to live life fully
now. And that's what the whole purpose must be. If we've come to the Earth, there
is a reason, and the whole purpose is to live on this Earth in a full way.
Who do you look up to as a role model or source of inspiration, and why?
Rossner: I have some very special role models. One is Sivananda, the great master
in Heaven. One is Mother Teresa. I'm very closely connected to Mother Mary and to
Jesus. Some of the most challenged children have taught me that no matter how abused
they've been, no matter how different they are, no matter how little they understand
of the outside physical world, they are pure light. They have been my real gurus.
When you find yourself in a negative state of mind, how do you return to balance?
Rossner: If I find myself consciously slipping from the state of spirit, literally
I take a few deep breaths, I do chanting of a mantra, and that's it. I'm very able
to detect right away if I'm losing that inner peace.
Are there any daily practices that you follow that have meaning for you?
Rossner: Ever since I was a young teenager, I've practiced classical yoga method.
The Sivananda System has five parts to it: Exercise, breathing, ashanas, meditation,
positive thinking and I also follow a 100-percent pure vegetarian diet.
Is there anything you would like to add?
Rossner: What I would like to add is that this is our time for Truth to manifest.
This is the time we've waited for. This is the time for which we have incarnated
into our bodies now. So let's just walk and talk and experience the joy that is truly
ours. It's our time. It's not coming tomorrow, it is here now. Rejoice! Be happy!
