Breast cancer walk
MINNEAPOLIS --Hundreds of participants from throughout the Greater Twin Cities area
are expected to rally at Minnehaha Park on Sunday, Oct. 12, for the second annual
American Cancer Society (ACS) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The non-competitive
5K helps raise funds for the ACS's breast cancer research, education, advocacy and
patient service programs.
Friends, families, coworkers, neighbors, support groups, churches and many other
organizations are currently forming teams to walk in the event to help make breast
cancer a thing of the past.
The walk has no pre-registration or registration fee. "It's so easy to get involved
in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Since registration is not required, individuals
simply collect pledges in the weeks prior to the event and turn them in on the day
of the walk. The more we raise, the more we can do to fight this disease," said
Tracy Skinner, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event manager.
Last year, 700 people raised more than $50,000 in the first Making Strides Against
Breast Cancer walk in Minnesota. Nationwide, 325,000 participants raised more than
$27 million in more than 90 ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events, making
it the number one breast cancer event in the nation.
For more information on how to make a difference by participating in ACS's Making
Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, contact Tracy Skinner at 1 (800) ACS-2345.
Glenda Green lecture
MINNEAPOLIS -- Glenda Green, author of Love Without End...Jesus Speaks and internationally
honored artist, will preview her new book The Wisdom of Jeshua during an introductory
lecture, "The Power of the Sacred Heart" at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at
Lake Harriet Spiritual Community, 44th and Upton Avenue S., Minneapolis.
A workshop will follow Saturday and Sunday at the Best Western Hudson House in Hudson,
Wisc.
The lecture and workshop -- as well as the new book -- offer the culmination of teachings
by Jeshua (Jesus) that were shared in Green's first book, Love Without End, in 1992
when she painted his portrait.
"The Wisdom of Jeshua presents at last the remaining notes from the original
conversations," Green says. "But more than that, it stands alone as a perfected
light of what his teachings have always been. The teachings of the Beloved Master
are now presented within the context of contemporary language and modern understanding."
Participants at the weekend events will hear Green share what Jesus shared with her
about understanding life, consciousness and the ever-growing universe. They will
explore the courage to be conscious, how to unlock creativity and fulfill the desires
of the heart. Through meditation and prayer, they will learn how to enter the Sacred
Heart and bring to light the soul's true purpose, and through the power of peace
they will learn to release, forgive and receive the ultimate blessing of true freedom.
The Introductory lecture will be $10, and the workshop's cost is $200. Contact Jeanne
Halverson at (715) 248-7917 for workshop reservations. Reservations are required.
