Free to fly...
by Wendy Garrett
I have no idea how I got here. I have no idea where "here" really is or
why it is more desirable than there. I understand I have been given certain abilities
and talents and I have a brain and physical and intuitive senses to process information
that I am told is necessary to my daily life. I have been socialized and conditioned
from the time I was born to ease my assimilation into the lock step of the daily
grind. I can choose to go along with that program or I can rebel and take a great
risk of losing all that has given me comfort and all those who have provided support.
I might become an outcast, a pariah, because I choose not to blindly recreate or
replicate my assigned program. It could be construed that I do not value those who
are going along with the status quo. That is not my intent. Each must determine his
or her own path. All have value. My rebellion is not an act of rejection. It is an
act of independence. Because if I buy into all that the daily grind entails for me,
I am not free. I value all that I have been given and all those who have provided
for me, but I must find my own way. Stepping out of the intricate netting of support
systems into the great void, I am exhilarated and apprehensive. And when I lose my
fear, I am free to fly.
We live in a world of mental construct, a web of intricate connections and subprograms
all running at the same time. What are we free of? Freedom. It is a nice slogan.
The term "freedom fighters" has a wonderful connotation. We, as a nation,
are the protectors of freedom. We want others to be able to afford to buy their own
televisions so they can, in turn, decide if they want to watch and then watch what
they choose. By and large, freedom seems to define a physical state of disconnection
or disassociation from another physical construct.
If you lift the veil, it is not the state of the physical that determines freedom.
However, having a physical connection will remind you that you are indeed limited
in your mobility. But it is the mental state that we seem to take for granted. It
is easy to get caught up in the societal web that is in constant state of construct
for pretty much everything with which we come into contact. That is the support system.
To break free is to sit in silence and determine from the vantage-point of "being"
what it really is that feeds us. One need only look to the anorexic to see the power
of the mind in determining whether or not one will take sustenance. We can see the
physical body is starving but, in actuality, from a soul perspective, that is a representation
of the mental state. The mind is starved. It cannot feed itself. Thus the body suffers
and the soul is snuffed out. The body is held captive by the mind, as is the soul.
The mind determines the world. Those who are free are not caught up in the world,
nor are they caught up in the mind. Occasionally they get caught by it, but all is
relative -- no matter what the physical state. We are soul and, thus, free -- and
regardless of what happens in this life, we all leave eventually. Free again. It
is the challenge to discover that freedom while we are still caught up in the construct
of the physical matrix. It is the ability to determine how and from whom you will
take your information and what you will allow into your process of reasoning that
shapes the height, width, depth and breadth of your perception of reality.
As it has been said, in my soul I am free. Soul-full living offers freedom. Amazing,
we seem to look down on those who have achieved that state. They are not caught up
by the mind games of the physical world and, thus, they don't fit in. But what an
honor, to be outstanding in a world of white noise.
When you are attached to the body...you are attached to death. It's "Plan B"
for the skeptic. When you are attached to spirit, you are attached to life-eternal
life. The body does not exist. You have the awareness that you are free to live forever,
in whatever form. This is the message of the Christ: Know God and you are free from
the illusion that is life. And this is all there is? There is more. If you can figure
that out and become it you can free yourself of a lot of heartache and create a fearless
life.
Want freedom? Try this: Dis-ease is not what you consume...it is what consumes you.
What are your thoughts? Fear is death. No more. No less. Let go of fear and live
forever. You are timeless. What are you afraid of? Let it go. Remove it from your
sphere and you live. Hold onto it and you die. It is not you but you feed it with
your thoughts...thus you starve. Feed yourself. That is all. So the mind is now free
but there remains a hunger, a thirst. What do I eat? Love. That is all that is. You
are free to fly! Aho!
