There Is No Secret
by Jill Swanson
The secret to a "happy" life is that there is no secret. To be "happy"
is to be at peace. To be at peace is to surrender ideas, concepts, philosophies and
conditioning about what we think happiness is. To be happy, is to be accepting
of what is -- to not be disputing or arguing with reality, to realize our sole/Soul
purpose is to evolve and grow and to live in balance and peace and freedom in the
Now moment, and that to live in the Now moment without attachment to things for purposes
of identity is to live in balance and peace and freedom which is joyful, and
indeed, our natural state of Beingness. Happiness is a myth of the dimension of things
and, dependent on external factors and circumstances, is illusory.
I can "think" of no better reason to be here on Earth than to Be peace,
to radiate peace. The conditions are right for awakening to this joyful state. All
that is required to realize it is willingness. Words cannot tell you what it is or
where to find it; they can only point to it. This is maddeningly frustrating to egoic
mind. We are moving beyond mind at an intense and rapid pace. Shift is happening
and a willingness to let go, so to speak, is your greatest friend at this time. Stop,
surrender, relinquish, allow and accept are some of your new guides to the end of
suffering. You have the power of freedom from mind, wherever you are, right now.
It is up to you to Be Still and allow it to emerge from the myriad distractions and
be realized (made real).
Each day we awake, each breath we take, each situation we find ourselves in, is an
opportunity to awaken from the mind-made illusion of what we call living,
to the reality of LIFE. Each shift that occurs like layers peeled away from an onion
is pure joy realized. When we realize what we "thought" was real
wasn't, we laugh, literally. We cannot help but see how silly it all is. All the
non-sense -- and it's called that for a reason -- that we "believe" is
real and meaningful...isn't. Simply. We're makin' it all up, one big elaborate
story. A story that drains us of our life force and who knows what else? As if that
wasn't enough.
Happiness will never be achieved, earned, bought or sold. Happiness will not be found
in doing. It is realized in Being. The intricacies and nuances of our language are
exquisite and we take them ever so much for granted. Will indicates future,
which does not exist and can never be. Is, is Now, which is all there is.
We have become lazy, mistaken and unconscious with our use of language. We have let
egoic mind turn it into a three-ring circus of illusion and fail to see the beauty
and utter simplicity in it. It is true that words can never describe "It,"
but they can point us to it and facilitate it.
Stop seeking It. Stop searching for It. Stop talking about It. Stop trying to "get
It." Stop trying to understand It. It already is. You, underneath
and beyond the story of me, are It. It can only be experienced, felt
and realized as it is allowed to occur. Any efforts to attain it are camouflage and
are the cause of suffering. It is always present and available. Incessant
thinking is what stands in the way of realizing it.
I lived the life I thought I was supposed to live, trying to find
and make happiness, until there simply was no more energy left to live that
way, a crushing blow to ego. Only when you surrender to the reality that your life
is the way it is and not the way you thought it was supposed to be, or the way you
want it to be, is when freedom is realized. Kris Kristofferson wrote and Janis Joplin
sang it best: "Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose." Be
willing to give up attachments to "things."
Wherever you are in your evolution is appropriate and exactly where you need to be.
Do not resist. What we resist persists. If your life situation appears to be a big,
fat mess, it isn't. Let that thought go. If others are judging it as that, that is
their business. Let them mind theirs, and you mind yours -- and when you shift your
thinking, chances are so will they and if they don't, oh well! You choose peace.
We are all instruments in the symphony of life, playing together to make beautiful
music. We are the composition. We are in process. We cannot not evolve. Accept what
is. Surrender, stop, Be, breathe. Be Still and Know. Herein lies "happiness."
Namasté.
