Introduction to coaching
KANSAS CITY – The Transformational Center for Professional Life Coaching, based in Louisiana, announces two "Introduction to Coaching" workshops in the Kansas City area. Participants may choose from sessions to be held July 26 and 27 in the Westport/Plaza area, featuring a distinguished lead trainer, Dr. Judith Kopfler.

An introduction to the coaching process and communication skills for the 21st century are the focus of this one-day workshop. "Improving your communication will improve the quality of your life," teaches Dr. Kopfler. These skills are vital, not only for today's professional coach, but all individuals who desire "consistently purposeful relationships and results."

Workshop attendees will learn efficient and effective conversation techniques to transform their life experience, including humor, being present in each moment, increased self-awareness and instant feedback.

For those interested in pursuing a successful coaching practice, future training dates are being planned in Kansas City for the Transformational Center's Professional Coaching Certification Program. Each of the three levels of training – Principles, Purpose and Power – includes mentoring sessions with the Program Director and additional workshops based on specific coaching techniques.

Dr. Kopfler's combination of experience and skills make her the ideal candidate to lead this Program. A Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, in private practice for over 25 years, she has trained extensively in many counseling techniques, particularly Gestalt and NLP.

Somatic Practitioner workshop
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Midwest Institute of Bodywork and Somatic Therapy, 5518 N. Antioch Road in Kansas City, is offering a three-part, nine-hour introductory workshop for those interested in exploring a career as a Certified Body Somatic Practitioner.

The workshop is August 2 and 4 from 6-9 p.m., and August 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $100.

Body somatics is a method of healing the body and maximizing well-being, developed about 18 years ago by Carmelita Davis-Beets. Davis-Beets, with certifications in acupuncture, Reiki, electromagnetic field balancing, neuro-muscular therapy, hypnosis, cranial sacral therapy, yoga, weight training and Hellerwork, found that no healing method existed that addressed equally the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of our lives through the medium of the body. Body somatics, through deep tissue manipulation, works directly with the cause of structural body problems through the systematic release of congested, constricted muscle and fascia tissue.

According to Davis-Beets, students attending the Midwest Institute have a deep interest in helping others experience healing and meet their potential in life.

"Certified Body Somatic Practitioners learn to restructure and realign bodies to bring about healing and wholeness," says Davis-Beets. "Body somatics clears the body, removes pain, and restores natural movement and balance, as well as energy flow. Students studying body somatics learn how the body works, and how various parts of our bodies house different emotions. We go way beyond what massage, chiropractic, acupuncture and psychotherapy can each do individually for a person. The healing power of body somatics is truly amazing."

The school is certified by the Missouri Department of Higher Education. Students must complete 608 hours of class time and 500 hours of hands-on body therapy to order to graduate. Students are of all ages and backgrounds – and many seek out the Certified Body Somatic Practitioner program in mid-life stages, searching for more meaning in life.

More information about the Midwest Institute of Bodywork and Somatic Therapy can be found at the school's website, www.body-somatics.com or call (816) 453-3577.
