Living the Example: Sandy Anastasi's Gift to Me
by Susan Anderson

When we look out at the world around us and envision what we would like it to be, we get a clearer image of what we should be doing with our own lives. For many, it expresses the ideas of what everyone should do to make this planet what each of us envisions it to be. Keeping in mind that we are all individuals with our own set of ideals, it would be difficult to "make" everyone else think or do as we feel they should.

I have had the rare opportunity to experience growth of great magnitude and can honestly state, "The more I learn, the more I know I need to learn."

When you look at people like John Edward, host of television's "Crossing Over," up close and personal you view a person who has done more for psychic work than many in his field. He chose to step out front and center and show by example the human side of being a psychic medium. I have had the pleasure of seeing him in person on many occasions. Here is a man who is a magnet to the public. He has become that because he has not tried to change everyone, rather he has changed and has grown in his own life and clearly sets an example for many to follow. He shares with people that his experiences have been both humbling and gratifying. And, he has taken everything he has learned and has opened up a one-day venue to teach psychic development, and he now offers his version on tape to assist each of us in tapping into our psychic abilities.

When I chose to take my leap of faith, John Edward's show was available on TV. It drew my attention to the possibility that someone else did this and it appeared quite normal. Because I had never had any type of psychic reading in my adult life, it opened up an idea in my head. As the next couple months unfolded, things dramatically changed for me. It was John's book, One Last Time, that led me to my mentor, Sandy Anastasi, who was, as John says, his "only psychic development teacher."

Sandy is a gifted psychic, channel and medium in her own right. She has put a tremendous amount of love and effort into the building of Starchild and the Astrological Institute. Along with her partner, John Maerz, she chose to work behind the scenes more or less. Through the development of her classes, they share their combination of vast knowledge and 20 years of experience, and they offer to their students a true gift. They give the gift of teaching them in a protected and safe environment to explore possibilities and open those doors that were shut for so long. Some students come for psychic development to use in their personal lives, while others want to take it as far as they feel they are able. Sandy and John share their experiences and beliefs so each student can make clear choices for him or herself, and at the same time, they steer the entire class forward through the process.

The patience they display for their students amazed me. When I first met Sandy over the phone, I told her I wasn't psychic but that I just talk to dead people. Sandy laughed and replied, "OK, but if you talk to dead people you are psychic. Not all psychics talk to dead people."

I thought "OK." I have never forgotten that moment. She allowed me to feel it, challenge it and learn from it. And I have completed all her classes and look forward to the years ahead, working with her and teaching. She instilled in me so many values that are so numerous to mention.

One lesson she has taught me stands out the most; it happens to be one Gandhi said when he referred to the world situation. In my own words, it means: If you want the world to be a better place, than become what you want the world to be. In making this life choice, you do not try to control or make people be what they do not want to be, rather you set the example. And, one person at a time can change the world by setting the example -- and living it. Perhaps if each of us did this, the world would become that place we envision.

Sandy Anastasi's classes are very intensive and are offered once a month for a full weekend. They are ongoing, starting with Psychic Development through Mediumship and Professional Mediumship. She also offers classes in Tarot, Astrology and much more. Introspect will be teaching them in the Twin Cities area later this year.
