for a Purpose
Last of a two-part EDGE Interview with Giselle M. Massi
by
Tim Miejan
Giselle M. Massi, author of We are Here for a Purpose: How to Find Yours, is committed
to helping others realize the true purpose they have for living in a human body.
With the assistance of her now-departed father, Joe, whom she describes as a spiritual
guide to her both while he was living and afterward, Giselle created a unique guidance
system of offering people Spiritual Life Support© sessions, which are described
in great depth in her book. She will be speaking from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, May 22,
at the Uptown Theater, 3700 Broadway, Kansas City, Mo., about her book as well as
answering questions about the process of finding one's purpose. |
SThe Kabbalah's new spokesmodel
The EDGE Interview with Roseanne Barr
by
Rita Gallagher Rosenberg
Roseanne Barr, who revolutionized the sitcom by portraying the lives of a working
class family in her successful TV show, "Roseanne," is now helping to revolutionize
the way childhood abuse victims heal by teaching and lecturing about Kabbalistic
meditation. She has also started a foundation called "The Roseanne Foundation"
to fund practical solutions to childhood trauma and dissociation.
We did the following interview by e-mail about the Kabbalah, healing from abuse and
the many other changes in Roseanne's world. Roseanne considers Kabbalah "the
last hope for the world." |
Being real
doesn't cost you a single cent
From
the Editor | by Tim Miejan
In 1970, when Coca-Cola introduced
itself as "the Real Thing," it seemed to be a stroke of advertising genius.
By calling itself "real," how much more genuine could it possibly be? Could
there be any question as to its authenticity? The question, of course, remained,
"Real what?" The real sugared, carbonated, caffeinated beverage, as opposed
to the ones that say they are but really aren't?
In the world of marketing, products are sometimes one incredibly good slogan, advertisement
or commercial away from being multi-million dollar winners. |

The Gathering Dream
The EDGE Interview with Drunvalo Melchizedek on the experience of Living in the Heart
First of a two-part series
by Tim Miejan
We've seen the peace protestors and those advocating the liberation of Iraq. Two
sides, both of whom believe they're right, in vocal opposition. And who can say which
one is right? Drunvalo Melchizedek, known for his books and teachings on The Flower
of Life, sacred geometry and the merkaba fields around the human body, says his new
work takes the guesswork out of our world of polarities by allowing us to create
within a field of absolute harmony. Drunvalo will be in the Twin Cities on June 22
to present "Conscious Co-Creation: Our Path to World Peace," an introduction
to a powerful process called Living in the Heart.

The
Core
The
Movie Mystic | by
Stephen Simon
For
me, The Core reflects our reminder to ourselves that our planet
is in both an environmental and political crisis. The film
even addresses our creation of "weapons of mass destruction"
and the disaster in the film itself seems to have been caused
by our experimentation with one of those weapons, somewhat
incongruously but very significantly named "Destiny."
Lost World Found: An interview with
Somali Artist Aziz (Abdulasis Osman)
Art & the Divine | by
Dawn Vogel
Aziz
(Abdulasis Osman) is a painter, sculptor, ceramist and teacher
and community
leader who is serving as a bridge to keep this "Lost
Somalia" found. Walking into his North Minneapolis home,
a colorful world of Somali landscapes, Mogadishu markets,
street scenes, camels, women dancing and Italian gondolas
greet you with a smile. A Somalia that I myself had not yet
imagined, I found it to be healing, heartbreaking and magical.

Jones: Come Away with Me

CD reviews | by
Don Strong
Maybe a week before the Grammy's
were televised, my teen daughter was trying to reserve Jones's CD at the library.
All her homies were buzzing about the cool, understated singer (also known to publicists
as the 24 year-old love child of Ravi Shankar and dancer, producer and nurse Sue
Jones).

Joy!

Open yourself to Goddess energy
as it awakens and transforms, bringing joy of movement, dance and choreography for
the experiencing of one's soul. "Dance is an ancient form of worship" acknowledged
by all indigenous people, and a saying from Zimbabwe offers: "If you can speak,
you can sing; if you can walk, you can dance," Matthew Fox says. |

by

SARS -- What exactly is this medical mystery that has captured world headlines? Is
it a bio engineered super-germ, cooked up by man? Or a cockroach-hopping mutant "pay
back," compliments of Mother Nature? This article examines Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome, from hypothesis to hype, using mainstream media and the best alternative
news websites as our guides -- and hopefully offer some ideas on how to stay in "the
peace zone" of this swirling medical maelstrom.

A Round
Table discussion on Pharmaceuticals & Wellness in the 21st century
moderated
by Janet Lang
We live in a society that values
speed, quick fixes and the fastest possible route from point A to point B. This philosophy
seems to have become a part of the way we treat our bodies, as well. Four alternative
healing experts connected with the Midwest Institute of Bodywork and Somatic Therapy
recently met to discuss this disturbing trend, and how it has affected the health
of people in this country.

Transformations
Traditional Chinese Medicine as a catalyst to reprogram cellular memory
by
Lygia Angel
During the late '60s and early
'70s, "the me generation" of self actualization, rearranging our internal
paradigms became popular in the American culture. With spiritual injustices such
as Vietnam War, many sought hallucinogens as an escape to a senseless war. Others
claimed acid brought them spiritual enlightenment like that of an ancient shaman
purging their beings to new heights of reality. Most became self-centered and addictions
became more overt. Psychology became popular. Everyone was working on the "Me."
And look out if you stepped on my rights. Yoga was in and devotees of Hare Krishna
were chanting on the street corner. God became eclectic.
EMDR
Therapy: Fad or true healing power?
by
Kris Rain
It was a cold September when
I first heard the phrase EMDR. My spiritual healing teacher was addressing her class
-- me and another woman -- informally about therapy because my classmate, ever
full of questions, had asked a poignant question about if and when to do therapy. |

Talking Astrology:
The EDGE Interview with Maria Shaw
by Tim Miejan
It's been said that our life
lessons and karma are clearly identified at the moment of our birth, based on the
position of the planets and constellations when we take our first breath. However,
how we live out our lives given the hand that we're dealt is another question. Astrologers,
who seemingly can answer a multitude of questions about our challenges in life with
only the skimpiest of information -- our birth time and location -- are a largely
untapped resource for information that can assist in us in all aspects of our lives.
Drugs and The Evolution of Consciousness
by Trent Nelson
As an extreme student of the
healing arts, learning and sharing with others through 10 years in the personal growth
field, eight years as a bodyworker and breathworker, and six years study with a former
Tibetan Buddhist monk, I've had my share of mystical experiences and been fortunate
to witness others through many of these experiences, as well. Along the way, I did
my share of drug experimentation for the purpose of expanding my consciousness, (I
remember one time watching my friend's arm become a tree while on mushrooms, and
realizing, after walking outside, that the entire human anatomy is reflected in nature)
as well as simply looking for an escape from some realities I'd managed to put myself
in unconsciously (taking cocaine because I didn't have enough "drive to succeed").
Just
Let Whatever Happens Be OK
Mind Chatter | by Bill Harris
I've had such tremendous response
to my article in the last issue about my Nine Principles that I thought I would expand
on each of them in a nine-part series. These principles are one of those easy/hard
things in life -- easy once you master them, seemingly impossible before you "get"
them. But if you can live your life by these principles, everything flows, suffering
is minimal, and what seemed to be problems melt away.

exclusive | Bringing Love
Everyday Wisdom
| by Paul Ferrini
Every block to love lies in
your heart and it is there that it must be dissolved. Don't wait for heaven to come
to spread your love around. Do it now. For heaven is in your eyes when you see with
acceptance and compassion. It is in your hands when you reach out to help. It is
in your mind when you see "good" instead of "evil." How you see
the world determines what the world will be for you. So do not seek to change other
people or the world around you. Instead, look at yourself. Look at your beliefs and
you will see where you need to bring openness. Look into your own heart and you will
know where you need to bring love.
Earth
Changes and the Possibility of Peace
The Light Page | by Suzie Blacki
The intensity of the energies
reaching us is creating change in the very basic organizations of matter in our dimension.
What does that mean? Change means both the creation of new forms and the breakdown
and dissolving of old ones. Matter is reorganizing itself, and the energy released
by the destruction of the old forms is being used in the new ones, but brought to
a much higher vibration. This vibration could not have been held before this time,
just as world peace has not been able to be stable for any length of time.

chuckling: Words of Wisdom and Fun
by
Joshua Willard-LightHeart
"Let's face it,"
I found myself saying to a dear friend. "We're just plain weird. We have relationship
with crystals. We consult numbers and planets, curious to know how they are affecting
our romantic status. We sometimes refer to ourselves as mediums (couldn't this be
mistaken for some kind of strange, new Goldilocks complex where we have to have everything
not too hot and not too cold!?)

Thirst for Spirit: Mother Teresa's blessing
by
Robin Maynard
After years of admiring Mother
Teresa for her great love for the world, I started dreaming about her. In these vivid
dreams, I worked alongside Mother Teresa serving the poorest of the poor and had
repeated visions of her holding my hand and patting the back side. I started to be
consumed with the idea of traveling to Calcutta to meet her. At times, I wondered
whether I was obsessed or if it was a calling. |

The KEO
Satellite: Messages from us 50,000 years from now
In Memorium - Jason
Thorpe
Jay (Jason) Thorpe, 67,
has been a friend, counselor and mentor to many of us in the Twin City area. He passed
over to the other side on Wednesday, April 2, 2003.
Jay became a Spiritualist Minister in the early 1980s and served as the Minister
of the Spiritualist Church in St. Paul for several years in the early 1990s. He continued
his ministry, spiritual counseling and healing work until shortly before he left
us. In addition, he and his wife, Gladys, sponsored a meditation and spiritual renewal
group in their home for more than 20 years.
He became a Master Mason at the Lake Harriet Masonic Lodge #277 in 1992 on his journey
to become a Shriner. Jay said he had a "calling" to give back to the Shriner's
Children's Hospital for all it had done to help his grandson.
All of us who loved Jay are going to feel the loss of his contagious smile, his wise
insights, his ability to help us see things from a new angle, and to confront us
when needed. He has been a gift to all of us beyond words. Jay, we miss you!
