November 2001: Surfing the Wave of the Future
Astrology
by John Sandbach
Jupiter goes retrograde in November, and is in the 16th degree of Cancer from October 13 until November 22. This degree has a great ability for knowing what to do, and how to do it right, and given the complex and delicate situations that have unfolded in the world recently, it is a wonderfully positive sign that this degree of Cancer is so strongly highlighted.
Current events are bringing the world more and more into the vibration of a family in which all of the members are included, and help is extended to all those who need it.
To make this a working reality, there is an imperative need to accept differences and to know that we don't all need to think alike and believe the same things. This is the great time of separating the important issues from the unimportant ones, and the most meaningful core truths from superficial differences.
Also, on November 2, Saturn opposes Pluto. This astrological happening has to do with getting to the bottom of things, digging way down to the deepest root tips of problems so that they can be eradicated. Saturn in Gemini now is helping all of us to communicate better, to think more clearly and to meet the challenge of listening to other sides and viewpoints.
The most important activities going on now are the sorting, organizing and interpreting of information. This opposition of Saturn and Pluto can be a major antidote to chaos, for it can help all of us to think more clearly, and to see what is really going on. Distorted perspectives can now fall away, and Gemini energy can become far more grounded than it has ever been before.
On October 28, Mars went into Aquarius and will be there until December 8. This is a potent placement of Mars for working for the common good. Mars in Aquarius manifests a dedication to finding the optimal way to bring spirit downward into form consciously and with steady presence. Mars here strengthens objectivity so that we can more easily stand outside ourselves and view our progress dispassionately. The negative side of Mars in Aquarius is a tendency to get into cleverness, sophistication and manipulative dazzling tricks. These are the pitfalls to avoid now.
At best, Mars now can see more clearly into the future so present actions can be geared toward a common good. Idealism and optimism are strong, and this can help to clear away cynicism and pessimism.
The New Moon this month is on November 15, and it is in the 23rd degree of Scorpio. This brings out everyone's resourcefulness and encourages us to look deep into the inner meaning of situations, rather than just accepting the obvious. It is now time to bring situations that have gotten out of hand back into balance. This New Moon encourages people to be more aware of options that they've never considered before. Venus conjunct this new moon helps to make the period from November 15 until December 14 calm, soothing and smooth.
From November 23 to December 4, Jupiter is in the 15th degree of Cancer. During this time period, there is a tension between what is known and familiar on the one hand, and new, unexplored realms on the other. During this time, spiritual forces tend to be less patient than usual, and they are pushing all of us to move forward, to let go of those places that feel safe but which are actually confining, and to relax and let go into greater and uncharted territory.
Sometime between now and the end of the year, the planet Chiron is going to cross the point exactly in the center of the Milky Way galaxy. This astrological event is bringing in a tremendous amount of new information into the earth, and will help us to understand more clearly the nature of our reality and the true nature of ourselves. This is a time of massive healing on all levels, and of coming to understand our spiritual selves in new and deeper ways.
We are all likely now to encounter many experiences that we don't understand or which we can't explain logically. This is the time, though, to allow ourselves to experience this new energy directly, rather than removing ourselves from it by trying to figure it out. All will come clear eventually, once this opening to greater realities is further under way.
The best way to work with this energy is to stay focused on the present as changes are happening, and to not worry about the future or to allow the burdens of the past to hold us back. An immense wave of evolution and change is calling to us, and we need to relax into it, for if we can give into it the ride will be truly joyous.
